Is Lithemba Academy registered with the Department of Education?

Yes, Lithemba Academy is officially registered with the South African Department of Basic Education. Our EMIS (Education Management Information System) number is 500507011. This means all certificates and qualifications obtained through our institution are nationally recognized and valid for university applications and employment.

Who can register for matric upgrading at Lithemba Academy?

Anyone who has previously written matric exams can register to upgrade their results. This includes learners who passed but want higher marks for university admission, learners who failed one or more subjects, learners wanting to add new subjects to their certificate, and adults over 21 who can write ASC (Amended Senior Certificate) exams.

How much is the registration fee and is it refundable?

The registration fee is R2,000 and is non-refundable. This fee covers administration, registration with the Department of Education examination system, and secures your place at our academy. Monthly tuition fees range from R450/month (1 subject) to R1,600/month (full-time learners).

Where are Lithemba Academy campuses located?

We have three convenient locations in KwaZulu-Natal: Head Office at 188 Langalibalele Street, Pietermaritzburg; Durban Campus at Zumaysha Building, 21 Field St (Joe Slovo), Durban Central; and Pinetown Campus.

Do you help with university and bursary applications?

Yes! We go beyond just teaching. Our dedicated staff helps students with university application forms and processes, bursary and scholarship applications, NSFAS applications, career guidance and counselling, and finding safe accommodation for students from far areas.

What is the difference between NSC and ASC exams?

NSC (National Senior Certificate) is the current CAPS curriculum matric exam for learners who wrote matric from 2008 onwards using the new syllabus. ASC (Amended Senior Certificate) is the old syllabus exam for adults over 21 who either never completed matric or wrote under the old curriculum. Both are nationally recognized qualifications.
